Let's practise vocabulary!

Hi children, these are the three activities for Friday 30th, May. You are going to work with vocabulary related to shops, food and unusual occupations. Let's see if you remember the words that you have been studying and how to use them. Ready, steady and go!
Instructions
A- At a shop
Write a short dialogue that takes place in a shop using the following words: exchange, refunds, expensive, credit card, cheque, a sale.


B- At a restaurant
Let’s imagine that you are chefs at a very important restaurant and you have to design the menu for an important event that will take place there. How would it be like? You will have to think of a starter, a main course and a dessert. Try to include the vocabulary related to food that we have been studying in oral classes. Do you remember what a balanced diet was? Try to include the three main groups of food in the different dishes. You can think of a name for the restaurant and choose a nice typography for your menu too!

C- Unusual Occupations
Let’s practise the vocabulary that you have seen in lesson 4 related to unusual occupations. Do you remember the names of these jobs and what they were about? Let’s see!

Choose the correct word for each blank and write the name of the occupation.

1. After walking around the place he said that the restaurant was not a ……..place.(hygienic – willing – ridiculous)

I used to...

Hi children, these are the two activities for May, 23rd. Today we are going to revise two topics that you've studied in lesson 3 of the book "Super Star 3": in the first exercise you are going to revise the structure "used to" in the affirmative, negative and interrogative form; in the second exercise, you'll have to remember the meaning of some adjectives and verbs related to occupations. Please, save your works after you finish. Enjoy it!
Important remainder: today you have to hand in your I.T folders without fail!

Your I.T folder


On Friday 23rd, May you will have to hand in your I.T folders with all the works we have done until now. It’s better for you to start printing and organizing your folder now so that you can check if your works are complete and properly done. This is the list of works that you should have in your folders:

· My Timetable
· Jobs: list of your relatives’ occupations. Description of one of the jobs.
· Asking about jobs: questions in the Simple Present (Interview to the dog groomer)
· Changing jobs: Questions in the Simple Past
· Revision for the test: tenses: Simple Present, Present Cont., Simple Past, Past Cont.
· Occupations: A-Put the letters in order, choose two occupations and describe the skills and personal qualities needed for those jobs. B-Complete the e-mail

Junior VI “A” should have one extra work: “The Superheroe description”.

Hi Megan!
Sorry I haven’t written for ages, but I’ve been really busy. I’m working for a (1) now. My careers (2) arranged it for me because I need some (3). You can’t get a job after you finish (4) without it. Anyway, I really like the job because I help the boss’ (5) with different things. It isn’t always easy- I have some good days and some bad days. You won’t believe what I did the other day, it was terrible! In the morning, I broke the coffee (6). Then, in the afternoon, I put an important (7) in the wrong (8). Everybody in the office was looking for it for hours. My boss found it the next day. Luckily, he didn’t shout at me. He just told me to be more careful next time.

Changing Jobs

Hi children, this is the activity for Friday 25th, April. Enjoy it!

Instructions:
  • You will have to revise the reading "Changing Jobs" from the book (page 10). What was the article about?
  • Below you will find answers given by the characters from the lesson: Kathy Brown, Paul Jones and Liz Spencer. So, you will have to provide the correct questions in the correct tense and discover who gave each answer. If you make the proper questions and discover all the characters you will get a point!
  • Please, remember to save your work when you finish it and print it for next class

Provide the questions for these answers:

  1. No, I didn’t like my previous job! I hated being in front of a computer all day.
  2. I made cakes, baked bread and croissants. At the end of the day, I helped with the cleaning of the bakery.
  3. I worked 6 hours a day, but the working hours weren’t hard. My boss and my mates had a good time at the office because I made them laugh all day.
  4. Yes, I had to learn new skills for my new job, such as how to organize big groups of people.
  5. The company was in Thompson Street 245, near the comedy club where I met the T.V producer.
  6. I wore formal clothes in my previous job. Now I feel much more comfortable in my blue jeans!
  7. My wage was $450 a week. It was O.K but I really wanted to become a comedian. I didn’t care about the money.

Asking about jobs

Hi children, this is the activity for April 18th's class.
Instructions:
  • First, read again the short story about jobs: "What will I be when I grow up?", published in http://www.britishcouncil.org/kids-stories-jobs.htm
  • Then, provide the questions for the answers below. Please, select the activity, click on the "copy" function and paste it in a new Word document. Remember that you have to save your work in your diskette at the end of the class.

Provide the questions for these answers:

1. I am a dog groomer. I clean and brush dog’s fur. I’m like a dog’s hair stylist!
2. Yes, I like my job very much. I enjoy working with animals and making them look beautiful by styling its fur.
3. I work 6 hours a day, from 10 am to 4 pm.
4. My wages are $210 a week.
5. The place where I work is near my house. It’s only 10 minutes by bus.
6. I wear a green overall and sometimes I wear gloves to wash dog’s fur.
